Jamila Osman

Nonfiction Editor

Jamila is a cultural worker, educator, and community organizer from  Portland, Oregon. She is currently an MFA candidate in the Nonfiction  Writing Program at the University of Iowa where she was an Iowa Arts  Fellow. She was the winner of the 2019 Brunel International African  Poetry Prize, and her debut chapbook, A Girl is a Sovereign State was published by Akashic Books. Her work can be found in The New York Times, Al Jazeera, Catapult, and elsewhere. She is always on the brink of buying a one-way ticket to anywhere.
